Booking and Payment Details

The total payment and security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed to document its state. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was when collected, allowing for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level it had at pickup, as refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns could lead to extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You will also be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during the rental period, along with a related administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You will find detailed coverage information and applicable excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial liability, and we encourage you to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you have opted for extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any hazardous practices. Transporting dangerous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is unacceptable. The vehicle must be used for its intended purposes only, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by Scottish law, Car Hire Dunfermline will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is capped at the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims related to death or personal injury due to negligence, or cases of fraud.

These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
